Falcon BMS 4 (shortened to Falcon BMS) is a combat flight simulator focusing on the General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon (Wikipedia), a supersonic jet. It is developed from the 1998 Microprose game Falcon 4.0, by Benchmark Sims which is a community development group[1] [2], and features over 20 years of development. Benchmark sims received the source code from the Falcon 4.0 game and Falcon BMS 4.0 requires a copy of the original Falcon 4 (available at: Steam, GoG).

Falcon BMS 4 focuses on the Korean Peninsula, like the original Falcon 4.0. It models a dynamic war with ground, air and naval units. The war is fought by AI (NPC) where the player is free to let the war play out, take over full or partial control, and fly F-16 missions against the AI units. It also features multiplayer with players able to join both sides.

The combat sim focuses on the F-16 and its activities, so the other aspects of the war and simulation are there to flesh out the operational context for the F-16. A number of aircraft are in a flyable state, however the focus is not there and the simulation does not have the same detail.

Falcon BMS 4 replaces the old Falcon 4 engine - and upgrades or rewrites all aspects of the sim. The physics engine and F-16 flight dynamics has been replaced. The dynamic war has been detailed.

The available terrain is in the Korean Peninsula, and there are downloadable extensions (may need older versions) e.g. covering the Baltic and Georgian area.

The latest version of Falcon BMS 4 can be downloaded from the Benchmark sims website for free (needs a copy of Falcon 4.0 which can be purchased at old game prices). See also: anouncements section on website.
